Tickets are $5 for general audiences, $3 for members, and free for students (with ID) and children under 14. Since this meeting nearly 50 years ago, these two artists, Dawoud Bey and Carrie Mae Weems, have maintained a close friendship one that has shaped and fortified their identities just as much as their perspective of the world that they explore through their cameras. Ticket holders will be able to visit the limited-run exhibition until the event begins 6:30 pm. Bey has been honored with numerous fellowships over the course of his long career, including a MacArthur “Genius Award” Fellowship, a United States Artists Fellowship, a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, among others. Moderated by Catharina Manchanda, Jon & Mary Shirley Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, the conversation will see the contemporary American photographer trace his four-decade career across genres including street photography, portraiture, and landscapes.īey's photographs serve to highlight both personal narratives and collective histories within the Black community.
